True Story: - A ski service manager (we'll call him Bob) who works for a competitor (we'll call Competition) told me a story. Bob's dad always gets his skis tuned at Skiis & Biikes even though Bob works for Competition. - One day at Competition's ski test day the general manager of that store tried out Bob's dad's skis, after a few runs he commented on how amazing the tune-up was. The general manager was told that the tune-up was done by Skiis & Biikes. He freaked! - I guess even the competition loves the Skiis & Biikes tune-up!

Ski Tuning is for all skiers

When I was young, I started out in the ski business as a ski tech. A typical busy night in the shop could consist of hand tuning 30 pairs of skis. A normal hand tune takes 30 minutes per person, minimum. That's 15 man hours or 7.5 hours for each of 2 guys. If you got started at 5pm and didn't stop, you would therefore finish after midnight . After working from 8am , that's a tough day. The last pairs of skis to be tuned . well let's say they may not have been so perfect.

When I started my own ski store, I focused on service and investing in the best machinery to make ski tune-ups perfect every time. A few years ago, Montana of Switzerland came out with the robot and we researched, checked and re-checked its abilities. Then we bought not just one but three of them at $250,000 each. My advisers called me crazy, but I knew that a perfect ski tune-up is one of the most important things to a skier.

To date these machines have done more than 80,000 perfect ski tune-ups. That is why we have won the distinction from Syndicated Press, "the best ski tune-ups in Canada ".

It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or expert or racer, a perfectly tuned ski will help your skiing.

Great Machines, Great operators

Great robotic machines require great operators to program and true them.

Brett, Service Manager, Collingwood and Henry, Service Manager, Mississauga and Don Mills are the guys. They must make sure that the robots continue to work at a very high standard, producing perfect tunes.

Brett has been with Skiis & Biikes for 14 years and has been with the robots since we got them. He can hand tune a ski like no other, knows his waxes inside out and loves putting out great work.

Henry is newer to Skiis & Biikes but has been in the ski industry for 19 years both as a rep, in retail and as a coach. Henry has done hand tunes for some great racers. Henry has been impressed with what the Skiis & Biikes' machines can do even while working for a competitor that used a different brand of machine.

Drop into any Skiis & Biikes and get a tour of the machines by the best operators in the business.
