Skiis
& Biikes Team is not a Race team, but a team of
staff that enjoy the sport we work in. We are on the
hill at every opportunity.
Rather
than believing what you read in a commercial publication,
where the best ratings tend to go to the companies that
purchase the biggest ads, and most of the testers get
free equipment from their supplier of choice; we offer
an honest, unbiased opinion from our in house test team,
of all ages, weights & skill levels.
Paul Montgomery. 5’9” 175lbs.Age
52. Ex and still Racer.(Slalom, GS & Snowboard.
Skis everything and skis it FAST. Loves steeps &
powder. Travels to ski when possible; east & west.
Still takes lessons. Skis with family as well.
Sharon Montgomery. 5’5”
Average weight, Age 40+. Sharon (a better skier than
she thinks) fits best into the “Cruiser”
category when she is not in racing lessons. She loves
wide open groomed trails, skiing with her family in
the east and “The Rockies” as well.
Brian Babcock. 5’11” 200lbs.
Smooth and technical. Skied since his 3rd birthday.
Former Examiner and Ski School Supervisor. PSIA 20 yr.
Gold Shield. “Now that I am not responsible for
“training the trainer,” I just ski for FUN
blending varied techniques as the equipment and conditions
allow.” Brian has 2 speeds… “stopped”
and “gone.”
Grace Babcock. 5’3” 100lbs. Aggressive non-expert.
Will ski almost anything (follows Brian anywhere) except
deep powder. She actually prefers hard pack and ice.

medium to long radius turns on slightly longer skis
with a forward binding position.

speed “big honkin” turns.
Kathy Kaye. 5’6” Average
weight, admits to being “over 30.” Although
Kathy was hesitant to even be included in our test;
her input on 2 ski models should not be overlooked.
Kathy, (an aspiring carver) has moved up to a Women’s
Performance ski, stepping her skills and speed up a
notch or two. Women looking to boost their confidence
should look closely at Kathy’s favourites.
Marc Cormier. 5’9”.170lbs. Over 40 years
on skis, with 27 yrs in our industry. Former long-board,
(really long) skier, Marc now prefers the new skis but
in a size and model that still invites speed and aggressive
carved turns. Skis east and west.
Sean Lasseter. 5’5” 165
lbs. 24 years exp. Aggressive, athletic type 3 skier.
Ex-racer. Likes to ski steeps and high speed GS turns
but don’t count Sean out when it comes to short
turns on radical side-cuts.
Ben Bradshaw.5’8”.180lbs.
Aggressive advanced skier, former ski industry corporate
rep. Ben loves speed as well as pulling serious G’s
in the turns. Shaped skis actually brought him back
from the “Dark Side” (Snow boarding)
Kevin Brown, 5’10” 180lbs.
Former instructor and freestyle competitor. Still enjoys
steeps and bumps. Moderately aggressive, but always
striving for good form & technique. Prefers short

Len Laing. 6’1” 180lbs.
Age 35. Just entering the “carving turns category.”
Len has skied for 5 seasons. Ontario only at this point.
His
likes include moderate speed and big GS type turns.
Len discovered that lessons are the quickest way to
progress, eliminating bad habits before they become
ingrained. Muscle memory can be a huge negative, if
not learned effectively.
Mark George, 230lbs, Skied since 82,
involved in the Ski industry since 85. CSIA Level 3,
Level 2 Coach. Taught at Big White, Whistler, Aspen
and Beaver Creek. Loves ripping high speed GS arcs but

Slalom turns.

type 3 skier. Skiing since the age of 6, and now Ski
Patrol at Craigleith. Likes to start it slow with short

lbs. 21 years old. Skied since the age of seven, and
involved in the industry since 1996.Advanced “western

with the occasional rip through the park, and also loves
the steeps and plenty of powder.
Craig Hughes, 5”9” 175lbs.
Level 2 Race Coach. 20 years skiing. Prefers Slalom
Race skis. Owns the Atomic SL11 and too many others
to mention. Skis everything including the Park &
½ pipe. Raced FIS and competed in the Nationals,
now Craig now skis for fun as well as coaching. (over
70 Days per season)
Sandy Proctor, 5”10” 195lbs.
Skied since age 17. An old boy who has skied a lifetime.
. . . . still not very good, but enjoys every minute
of it, and he’s still learning. Sandy prefers
smooth linked turns on aggressive terrain, (no moguls)
and skis mainly in the east. Shaped skis have allowed
Sandy and his old hockey knees to continue skiing and
improving. “Skiing is still FUN” |
